Racing

Racing is an excellent way to test and improve your paddling skills. Many races are combined with clinics -- the focus is on learning and having fun, not competition. Here's a partial list of races in/around Pennsylvania in 2003; for a complete list of slalom, downriver and rodeo events in the US/Canada in 2003, see the 2003 Slalom/Wildwater/Rodeo/Festival Schedule. You might also want to contact the United States Canoe & Kayak Team at usckt@aol.com. or at 518-523-1855, or the American Canoe Association at acadirect@aol.com, or at 703-550-7495, or the American Whitewater Affiliation, or the Bethesda Center of Excellence in Maryland at 301-229-2269.

There are also a lot of links to organizations involved in racing throughout the US and the world on the Whitewater Slalom Links Page.
