Whitewater Paddling and Racing In and Around Pennsylvania
Introduction |
Mailing ListsThere are many mailing lists available via rockandwater.net as well as other sites on the Internet. Here's a partial list. Before you join any hosted by rockandwater.net, you might want to read the Policies for Rockandwater.net mailing lists; you can also find a list of all the mailing lists here. PA-area Whitewater Paddling: The "pa-ww" mailing list ("Pennsylvania-area whitewater") is for whitewater paddlers in and around the state of Pennsylvania. It's used for announcements, discussion, and all the sorts of things that you might expect. To subscribe, send subscribe pa-ww in the body of the message to: majordomo@rockandwater.net. PA-area Whitewater Hotline: Many clubs have hotlines that are used for "pick-up trips" -- unplanned trips that come together when it starts raining and somebody notices that the gauge on a favorite river is at just the right level for a run. There's now a mailing list that serves the same purpose for paddlers in and around Pennsylvania. You can get yourself on it by sending a message with subscribe pa-ww-hotline in the body of the message to: majordomo@rockandwater.net. It works the same way as most Internet mailing lists: whatever you send out goes to everyone else on the mailing list. PA-area Whitewater Slalom Racing: A lot of people in this area do whitewater slalom racing. This is a mailing list used to discuss races, training, workouts, and whatnot. You can get yourself on it by sending a message with subscribe pa-ww-slalom in the body of the message to: majordomo@rockandwater.net. The Pennsylvania Cup Championships have a mailing list to help keep everyone informed of race-related news; you can get yourself on it by sending a message with subscribe penncup-announce in the body of the message to: majordomo@rockandwater.net. Northeast US Whitewater: There's also a general mailing list for topics of interest to whitewater paddlers in the Northeastern US; it's called kayak-l, and you can subscribe to it by sending subscribe kayak-l in the body of a message to majordomo@lightlink.com. Whitewater (general topics): The original Internet whitewater mailing list is still going strong. It encompasses all whitewater topics worldwide, including canoeing, kayaking and rafting. You can get yourself on it by sending a message with subscribe whitewater in the body of the message to: majordomo@rockandwater.net. Downriver/Wildwater Racing: This is a mailing list for people who are interested in downriver and/or wildwater racing.
